Jägermeister Freezer Sessions - Dublin
The final Jägermeister Freezer Sessions gig of 2012 ensured the event went out with an almighty bang. Such was the tastiness of the line-up, fans ignored the face-numbingly cold weather and patiently queued outside Dublin's Crawdaddy an hour before doors opened.
Not that we can blame them... Starting things off were Dublin natives The Hot Sprockets. Borne of another era (that's a compliment), the Sprockets' sound is dirty, bluesy rock 'n' roll. Think what might have happened had early Kings Of Leon had five beautiful hairy babies with The Committments...
Next up, fellow Dubs, Spies. Though they possibly haven't made their Confirmation yet, this young band's sound displays a maturity way beyond their years. Singer Michael Broderick's rich baritone conjures up Moz, White Lies and Interpol to name but a few - expect to see more of these boys in the coming years.
The Riptide Movement were next to take to the stage. Oft spotted busking on Grafton St. of a Saturday afternoon, the Most Hard-Working band in Ireland™ put on a typically fantastic show, with fans singing along to hits like the brilliant 'Keep On Keepin' On'.
Last but not least, it was Le Galaxie's turn. Having performed at not one but two Freezer Sessions gigs so far this month, the electro poppers proved why they're in so much demand. Showcasing latest album Laserdisc Nights II, the foursome whipped the crowd into a frenzy with their synth-tastic blips and beeps. Undoubtedly one of the most exciting acts to come out of Ireland in the last few years.
And that's another batch of Freezer Sessions done and dusted. Bring on 2012!
