A few minor technical faults during their set could not hold Le Galaxie back from turning the Rankin's Wood stage into a hub of chaotic fun.
Despite, or maybe because of a fault with his microphone, singer Michael Pope proved a captivating spectacle for the duration of the show last night as he used that frustration to fuel his performance. Like a gyrating General Patton, he stomped and stalked the stage, letting loose a furious rendition of 'Put the Chain On', before later attempting to scale the scaffolding.
Packed to the rafters, the crowd were tightly jammed into the tent to avoid the torrential downpour and bobbed about frantically for the hour as the band switched between '80s disco and the more house-influenced new tracks, such as 'Pleasure'.
Joined later by Mary-Kate Geraghty from Fight Like Apes, she helped unleash a deafening version of 'Love Machine' before remaining onstage for the remainder of the set, which only upped the ante further.

The group, donning white tuxedos were a sight to behold with their brazen showboating during songs, sometimes hopping away from their synthesisers to simply groove about, or to perform synchronised high fives that matched up with the snare beat. It was not just the danceable juggernaut of sound that made the Le Galaxie set a thrill, but their skill at putting on a cheeky as hell show full of drama and euphoria.
