The singer will play three dates at the Pavilion Theatre supporting Lisa O'Neill at the start of July
Dublin-based singer-songwriter Iona Zajac has released a new single 'Bang', ahead of a US tour with The Pogues next September.
The track marks the Scottish artist's second release this year after 'Summer'. Where her previous single leaned into spectral folk textures, 'Bang' bursts forth with a raw, indie-rock spirit.
"A good bang at the end of a boring day won’t fix your life, but it might help," says Zajac, who describes the song as a celebration of female pleasure, bodily autonomy and hard-won joy.
"I wrote 'Bang' when I realised sex could be good… I wanted to shout about it." The track is accompanied by a music video presenting what Zajac describes as a "day in the life of a bored woman who loves to bang!"
Zajac's recent rise has been rapid. She toured earlier this year with Alison Moyet and has become a surprise new addition to The Pogues’ revived touring lineup, sharing vocal duties with Lisa O’Neill and Daragh Lynch (Lankum) among others. She’ll rejoin The Pogues for a US and Canada tour later this year.
