Older Than Ireland documentary tipped for Oscar nomination

The film is the only Irish entry for the Best Documentary award at the 2017 Academy Awards.

Directed by Alex Fegan, Older Than Ireland looks back at each centenarian's life and reflects on the turbulent political and social changes that have happened over the past one hundred years in the country.

The film won Best Irish Documentary at the Galway Film Fleadh , while Fegen received a Rising Star nomination at the IFTAs earlier this year.

Nominations for the 89th Academy Awards will be announced on January 24 and the Awards will be revealed on February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre in LA.
