Irish DJ Kormac stopped by the Speakeasy tent at Forbidden Fruit this evening to chat to Hot Press’ Colm O’Regan about his show earlier today and what’s up next for him.
Kormac told us that he was delighted with how his show on the Undergrowth stage went earlier today. He said it was the first time they had done the show on that scale, and was delighted with how the audience interacted. He was particularly happy to see so many fans clapping along with the new song they performed. “It was mad, fucking seeing how many people were in that tent and clapping along with it."
Kormac also spoke about the development of the show which makes use of video footage. In his show earlier today, there was video footage throughout, something that is an important part of the performance.
Fans of Kormac’s Big Band - a musical venture that has 11 musicians - will be pleased to know that it’s not over for them. When Colm asked him if the Big Band are finished, he replied: "Absolutely not, of course not…The Big Band are very much still writing and recording, and we’ll be announcing shows later this year.”
During his stint in the Speakeasy tent, Kormac also revealed that he'll be announcing more shows on Monday, leading Colm to point out that “we have an announcement of a lot of announcements!”
He also spoke about how the songs are made, noting that he can’t compartmentalise when it comes to music. He said he can’t decide to sit down with the intention of writing a particular type of song.
