IMRO CEO Victor Finn receives prestigious Ivors Academy Honour

Victor Finn, CEO of the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) has received a prestigious Ivors Academy Honour.

The achievement acknowledges his enduring committment to ensure that musicians are recognised, protected, and fairly rewarded. In his leadership role at IMRO, he has strenghthened creator's rights, and has championed more robust copyright protections.

After working with IMRO for almost two decades, Victor Finn has increased membership from 7,500 to more than 35,00 people across Ireland. The organisation has also created an integrated licensing framework in Ireland that includes both reproduction and sound-recording rights.

He also serves on the board of GESAC, the European board that represents author's and composers' societies. The GESAC advocates for fair regulation of music in the online space.

Finn supported the Ivors Academy when they first launched in Ireland, with the Academy's partnership with IMRO creating better opportunities for Irish songwriters through improved support channels.

"I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from The Ivors Academy, whose work has done so much to celebrate and champion songwriters and composers," said Finn about the honour.

"Ensuring that creators are properly recognised and rewarded has been at the heart of my work at IMRO for many years. This honour is not mine alone; it reflects the dedication of the IMRO team, our Board, our members and the many partners who share our ambition and commitment."

IMRO chair Tom Dunne praised Finn's work in the music industry:

"Over many years, he has helped build an organisation that is respected internationally while never losing sight of the people it exists to serve: songwriters, composers and music publishers."

Finn received the award at The Ivors Academy Honours at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel on 1 October 2026. The event brought together more than 400 guests from across the global music community.
