Hot shots 2004: Rulers of the Planet
Emerging from the garages of Cork last year, Rulers Of The Planet have fast established themselves as one of the country’s most exciting new band.
Taking it to the nation through the IMRO Showcase and Forward The Revolution tours, their explosive live shows have proved a hard act to follow, catching the eye of Dave Fanning amongst others, for whom they recorded an exclusive session.
Marrying hard rock, garage and punk, the band have eschewed the offers of several labels to go it alone. Last year’s debut album No-one Understands The Devil’s Music Better Than The Rulers Of The Planet is set to be followed by the equally snappily titled We Are The Late-Night Terror Death Squad, early this year. Fans of sensitive singer songwriters should probably avoid, but those who like their music a little dark and very rough around the edges, should definitely investigate further.
