Haim share Paul Thomas Anderson-directed video for new single 'Lost Track'

Indie-pop sisters Haim have shared a retro visual for their new single 'Lost Track'.
The single and its accompanying video stem from an impromptu collaboration with director Paul Thomas Anderson while on a W Magazine cover shoot. Both were previewed during screenings of Anderson's Licorice Pizza, which stars the youngest Haim sister, Alana, across from Cooper Hoffman.
The L.A. trio said of the video: "An opportunity arose to do a quick music component while shooting the story. Paul mentioned having the book Appointment in Samarra as a possible direction."
“So we did some digging around the book and were inspired by the scene where the main character throws a drink in someone’s face at a country club. We were inspired by the idea of someone doing something so drastic to get out of a situation they felt uncomfortable in—just to feel something.”
The guiding lyric "I’ll never get back what I lost track of” was written by the group over a year ago. After trying to recycle the lyric on a number of releases, the new track became the perfect fit.
"We remembered that lyric and wrote and recorded the song and shot the whole thing in a few days! Anyway, felt fun to do something very collaborative/off the cuff," Haim wrote on Instagram.

The video features Anderson's frequent retro motif. The Boogie Nights director was inspired by magazine clippings from the '50s.
Lead vocalist Danielle is seen as a reluctant socialite as she, literally and metaphorically, puts her foot down at the idea of the "Balboa Ladies Society".

The alt-pop group will head out on a North American and European tour this year, including a night at Dublin's Trinity College on June 28. Tickets are on sale now.
