Are record stores making a miraculous comeback?
Just days after Vinyl Dublin opened their doors in Dun Laoghaire and months after Steamboat Music extended their premises to ensure that Limerick wouldn't be left without a record store, Golden Discs are getting ready to open up their new store to the public at 6pm tomorrow, November 10.
Issuing a statement today, the retailer also said that it will be having it's first in-store event on November 18, with Olly Murs signing books in-store.
You can read the full statement here:
"Golden Discs is delighted to announce the opening of their new store in Dundrum Town Centre, the largest store in the Golden Discs’ portfolio at over 10,000 square feet. The store opens its doors on Thursday 10th November at 6pm, to coincide with Dundrum Town Centre’s annual Shop & Rock event.

"This follows the recent opening of Golden Discs’ new superstore on Henry Street, marking their return to the street after a seven year hiatus. The company is hiring an additional fifty staff for the new stores bringing the total employed to over 150 people.
Golden Discs Dundrum will host their first instore event on Friday 18th November when Olly Murs will sign copies of his new album 24 Hours. A limited number of wristbands for this event will be available when you buy the album instore on Friday 11th from Golden Discs Dundrum.
Golden Discs has been synonymous with music and home entertainment in Ireland since 1962. Despite the last recession and the contraction of the music retail industry, Golden Discs has not just weathered the storm but managed a significant expansion of their business.
"Golden Discs specialises in vinyl, a growth area of the music retail market, and is continually expanding this offering to keep pace with customer demand. As well as CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray the company also carries accessories including record players and a wide range of headphones to suit every budget.
"CEO of Golden Discs, Stephen Fitzgerald says, ‘We’re hugely excited about opening Ireland’s largest home entertainment store in Ireland’s premier shopping location. We have the largest range of music and movie products and are working around the clock to be ready for Dundrum’s Shop & Rock event on Thursday evening.’"
