Future Islands announce 20th anniversary album From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth

Future Islands have announced a double album to commemorate 20 years as a band. Titled From a Hole in the Floor to the Fountain of Youth, the album will release Friday, May 22 via 4AD.

Over 20 tracks, From a Hole in the Floor to the Fountain of Youth will feature fan-favourite unreleased songs and outtakes—half of which have never before been available to stream—from the band's two-decade tenure.

To accompany the album announcement, Future Island have released two singles, titled 'Sail' and 'Find Love'.

Bassist William Cashion chose the album's title, pulled from their 2009 song 'Pinnochio'.

“I’ve always loved the imagery of that lyric,” Cashion said of the title. “The hole in the floor is the everyday, but the fountain is the magic that happens when the life you dreamed about actually becomes the one you’re living. It’s the dream and the reality existing in the same room.”

“This is for everyone who has carried these songs with them, from the first house parties to the rooms we’re playing today."

Future Islands will play a string of North American shows this summer to celebrate the album's release. Dates have yet to be announced.
