Five to catch at Knockanstockan this weekend
Edwin McFee picks five must-see acts at Knockanstockan this weekend.
VULPYNES
Inspired by the gospels of Brody Dalle, Courtney Love and Kathleen Hanna, this Dublin duo have turned loads of punk and rock fans into believers over the last year or so. Bank on them making plenty more new converts at this year’s bash.
BITCH FALCON
When it comes to sky-cracking guitars and neck bothering pit anthems, there aren’t many who do it quite like this Dublin trio. The last year has seen Bitch Falcon really spread their wings and if you’re compelled by the power of the riff make sure you’re front and centre for their set.
SUPER SILLYY
Part of the reliably awesome and constantly growing Word Up Collective, this energetic, hip hop and modern RnB infused group are serious contenders and their live show is life affirming.
ROE
Touted by many as a next big thing, the Derry teenager’s self-styled “grumpy electro-pop” has already earned her an army of admirers. Current single ‘Hey Thomas’ sees Roe assert herself as one of the north’s brightest stars, so miss this set at your peril.
JINX LENNON
Skilfully treading the tightrope between misty eyed romance and hard hitting realism, the border town bard’s latest sonic manifesto Grow A Pair!!! was a timely primal scream against the machine. Expect the impossible to pigeon-hole artist to be at the peak of his powers.
