The Australian musician passed away in 2018, aged 58, due to a brain tumour. He was featured on every Bad Seeds album from 1992 (Henry’s Dream) to 2013 (Push The Sky Away), providing piano, organ & backing vocals.
He also had a lauded solo career and released eight albums via his own label, Beheaded Communications, including Nothing Broken (2000) and Wrong Man's Hands (2004).

Savage had a strong affinity to Ireland, namely the town of Dundalk, where he performed at the Spirit Store venue alongside Australian singer Suzie Higgie in 2000. Their gig included several songs from their joint LP Soon Will Be Tomorrow.
In the decade that followed, Savage came back to Dundalk several times and formed a special connection to the town and its own Mark Corcoran.
By arranging several gigs throughout Ireland and releasing Savage's back library through Country Gent Records, Corcoran introduced Savage's music to new listeners.
Several of Savage's albums were recorded at Dundalk's Tumbleweed Studios, including Live in Ireland (2008) and his last record, Pussy’s Bow (2009).
The line-up of These Are The Waves will include numerous artists who collaborated with Savage over the years, such as Suzie Higgie, The Bad Seed's Mick Harvey and PJ Harvey collaborator Terry Edwards.
