Richard Bellia, who is a French photographer who has specialized in portraits of musicians since 1980, will hold his first Irish exhibition in Dublin’s Darc Space gallery from the 8 to 10 December.
While here, Richard will also be promoting his current book 'An eye on Music, from 1980 to 2016 (Un oeil sur la musique).
“I think I managed to shoot some of the main figures of pop and rock music over the past 30 or more years," says Richard.
"As I look through my files, I often think I would like to go back and take five times more photos than I did: being at appointments punctually, shooting the opening bands, going to the after-show parties etc. But then I think I should just shut up and stop complaining!”
The new book, weighing 5 kilos, contains more than a thousand photos of musical artists. Working exclusively in film (24X36 and medium format, mainly in black and white), the publication documents the fruitful career of an independent photographer with passionate portraits of iconic musicians.
