Check out the video & pictorial highlights!
A man who appears to suffer horrific withdrawal symptoms if he doesn’t play a gig, Ed Sheeran arrived in Dublin early yesterday to perform another secret show in his home away from home, Whelan’s. He was supposed to play just four songs, but of course kept on going!
[link]www.nova969.com.au/music/ed-sheeran-just-blew-us-away-performance#1[/link] has lots of pics and video highlights.
In January it was as part of the VH1 Storytellers series, last night it was at the behest of Australian network Radio Nova who flew over 25 lucky competition winners to see the 24-year-old.
With just 40 other industry insiders present, it was a very special occasion.
“Amazing seeing him perform in such an intimate setting is unbelievable,” enthused PR person Sorcha O’Flanagan.
“Checking out this dood in an intimate setting; unreal!!!” tweeted The Academic boys.
It was a family affair with Ed duetting with his cousin Laura Sheeran who in addition to her solo output makes up one half of alien space poppers Nanu Nanu.
Support was provided by Jamie Lawson, the first signing to Ed’s Gingerbread label.
We suspect there’ll be more sightings of Mr. Sheeran before he plays those two big Croke Park headliners on Friday and Saturday.
Not surprisingly, he features in the special 50 Greatest Irish Gigs Of All Time issue of Hot Press, which is in shops today, and has already sparked furious debate on Tom Dunne's Newstalk show!
