Duckworth Lewis Method announce album plans
Their second LP of 'cricket pop' is almost with us.
The Duckworth Lewis Method have confirmed the June 28 release of Sticky Wickets, their second collection of quality cricket pop. Any similarity to the 1971 Rolling Stones classic Sticky Fingers, is entirely intentional.
Hot Press has had a sneak preview, and reckon it’s an even niftier collection of songs than 2009’s Ivor Novello-nominated and eponymous The Duckworth Lewis Method.
Duckworth (AKA Pugwash’s Thomas Walsh) and Lewis (AKA The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon) will be touring to support its unleashing, which coincides with England thrashing Australia in the Ashes.
Duckworth says: “Lewis and myself felt it would be at least 20 years before the world would want another ‘Duckworth Lewis Method’ album. But it rains a lot in Ireland so we revised our prediction of 20 years by using the Duckworth Lewis Method and it turns out we only needed to wait 4 years.”
Lewis adds: “It’s all Duckworth’s fault.”
Details of some very special guests will be announced soon!
