DROKK release remix of ØXN’s Cruel Mother
The remix will be sold in a limited-edition 12-inch green vinyl, with all profits donated to War Child in support of children affected by global conflict, according to Claddagh Records.
Geoff Barrow from electronic group Portishead and Ben Salisbury, collectively known as DROKK, have released a remix of Cruel Mother by Irish experimental collective ØXN.
Originally on ØXN’s 2023 album CRYM, this is DROKK’s first release following their 2012 self-titled album debut.
The vinyl package also includes the original ØXN track and Ben Frost's remix.
ØXN are an experimental doom-folk group composed of Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler from Percolator, Lankum's Radie Peat, and John 'Spud' Murphy.
The band released their debut album CYRM in October 2023.
“We love ØXN – not just their music, but who they are as people, and what they stand for politically,” said Barrow. “We’ve been huge fans of Cruel Mother since its release, and I reached out to see if we could remix it in support of War Child, a brilliant charity I’ve been involved with for many years.”
DROKK formed in 2011 and have worked together on various scores for film and television productions.
The duo’s credits include Ex Machina, Annihilation, Devs, Men, and Civil War. They also worked on the Black Mirror episode ‘Men Against Fire’ and the Netflix series Archive 81.
Their limited edition vinyl is available for preorder here.
