Divebomb
Formerly known as Baby Astrolab and Big Ten Shed, Divebomb are a seasoned sounding three piece that manage to sound far more brash than their skeletal line up would initially suggest. Their penchant for big melodies and bombastic 'Rebel Rebel' era Bowie workouts is immediately apparent on the opening lo-fi glam stomper 'Stupid'.

'Listen To The Radio' has a lovely long and languourous intro, complete with tingling pianos paving the way for another big, booming chorus as instanteously catchy as its title implies. The range and scope touched upon by songwriters Dave Egan and Rob Maguire is impressive. Egan's songs are the dreamy and dramatic mini epics, while Maguire's penned the punkish melodic pop of 'Self Destruct' and the slow, oozing beauty of the parting glass toast 'Play Dead'.
Occasionally, the Bowiesque histrionics can get exceedingly grating, especially when they lack the same emotional dexterity and playful poppiness as the Thin White Duke. While certainly not the most original outfit around, Divebomb have still utilised their songwriting suss to produce a very ambitious sounding album.
