Diane Cannon releases new album and bilingual book Mín na Craoibhe

Irish traditional singer Diane Cannon has released her new album and accompanying bilingual book Mín na Craoibhe at Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich.

The album’s music is rooted in the singing traditions of the Donegal Gaeltacht, such as sean-nós.

The bilingual book was designed by Jesse Smith, featuring song texts and translations alongside the CD for the album. The songs are also available for digital download.

Mín na Craoibhe includes collaborations with musicians including Steve Cooney, Dónal O’Connor and members of the Ulster Orchestra.

The launch follows her 2021 debut album Idir Mhuir agus Sliabh, and her being featured in a 2025 TG4 documentary which showed her musical journey to Nashville.

Last month, Cannon performed at Belfast Tradfest alongside other performers including Solas, Flook, Cherish the Ladies and more.

She also received two nominations for Best Traditional Folk Track at the RTÉ Folk Awards – one in 2024 for her single ‘Amhrán Pheadar Breathnach’, and another in 2025 for ‘Bean an Fhir Ruaidh’.

Meanwhile, Cannon served as the official Irish-language ambassador for Cloughaneely for the 2020-2021 term, during which she promoted the use of the Irish language.

She also founded IrishSongLessons.com to share and teach Irish-language songs with a worldwide audience and she established Donegal Music Trails, which runs heritage-focused bus and boat tours.
