Derry punk band Touts announce new single
‘Before We Go Forward’ will be released later this week
Touts are set to release 'Before We Go Forward', a Joe Strummer cover, later this week. Speaking about the song, the punk three-piece explained, “We loved the tune from the get go. It's a serious hidden gem. We are honoured to be part of the history of it by re-recording a Joe Strummer track. Upon actually looking at the lyrics, it’s eerily relevant to what’s going on in today’s world, both in the popular social and political climate and culture in which we live.
“It made us think of Brexit, especially the lyrics, “Before We Go Forward / We find the achilles heel/ Which is money, money, money, The only thing they feel. Before We Go Forward.”
All profits made from the track will be donated to the Joe Strummer Foundation. 'Before We Go Forward’ will be released on Very Clever Records on Thursday March 7 and will be able to stream and download on all major services. Touts tour Ireland & UK in March 2019 with support from the exciting Dublin band Inhaler.
The band have established a reputation for furious live performances – selling out venues in Northern Ireland to armies of fans who share their angst. Having already supported Liam Gallagher, Paul Weller and Kasabian – Touts head out on their 2019 tour more experienced, and less forgiving. List of dates below.
