David Guetta captivates Longitude in cinematic return to Irish stage
"It feels amazing to be back after all those years," Guetta said.
French DJ and producer David Guetta returned to wow crowds at Longitude Festival, 13 years since his last show in Ireland.
Fresh from performances at the [UNVRS] nightclub in Ibiza and Belgium's Les Ardentes festival, Guetta brought his visual production titled "The Monolith" to Marlay Park. Screens displayed vivid visuals of desert cliffs, ocean waves, mechanical hands and the titular multi-coloured monolith structure, all set to a mix of Guetta's beloved dance classics and new remixes.
Guetta opened with crowd-favourite original 'I'm Good (Blue)', followed by his 2011 hit 'Titanium' mixed with the late Avicii's 'Wake Me Up'.
"It feels amazing to be back after all those years," said Guetta to thunderous cheers during 'Titanium'.
The set was not exclusive to electronic dance music; Guetta whipped the crowd into a frenzy with a remix of American rapper Travis Scott's 'Fein' and rap trio Migos's 'Bad and Boujee'.
"I think you are the best crowd in all of Europe. The energy is crazy," Guetta told the crowd after 'Bad and Boujee'.
Albeit, Guetta stayed true to his EDM roots, with classics including a new mix of 2002's 'Satisfaction' from Benny Benassi with Charli xcx's recent smash-hit 'Guess'.
Guetta also surprised the crowd with his TikTok-viral track 'Let's Go', which remixes the song of the same name by Jaden Bojsen and Sami Brielle.
Keeping up the viral energy, Guetta mixed American rapper Doechii's wildly popular 'Anxiety' with its original sample track, Gotye's 2011 'Somebody That I Used to Know'.
Backed by stunning visuals, pyrotechnics and multicoloured laser beams, Guetta wrapped up the set with a beloved original: 'Without You', originally featuring Usher.
Guetta's next two weeks of shows will take place at various clubs in Spain as "The Monolith" tours Europe and North America.
