David Bowie’s ‘Repetition ’97’ music video finally released
The video consists of rehearsal clips from the 1997 Earthlings tour.
A music video for David Bowie’s previously unreleased 1997 redo of ‘Repetition’ has finally been released.
The video for ‘Repetition ’97’ is a compilation of clips from Bowie’s 1997 “Earthling Tour” rehearsals, filmed by Tim Pope in Hartford, Connecticut. It largely features slightly offset doubled images of Bowie’s face, with his distinctive late ’90s bolt of red hair.
Repetition ’97’ comes from the forthcoming archival release ChangesNowBowie, a new David Bowie collection featuring nine previously unreleased tracks.
The recordings were made during a special, mostly acoustic session in New York in 1996. These songs aired on the BBC the following year in honour of the legendary musician’s 50th birthday, but ChangesNowBowie marks the first time they’re being made widely available to fans.
It was set to arrive on Record Store Day next week, but its release is now postponed together with the event to June 20. The collection will still receive a digital release on the original date of April 17.
