Cult hero Scott Fagan finally makes his Irish debut
The '60s psych-folk merchant also happens to be Stephin Merritt's dad!
48-years after the release of his debut South Atlantic Blues, which is considered a psych-folk masterpiece, Scott Fagan embarks on his first European tour, which includes an October 7 stop-off in Whelan’s. Tickets are €20.
Variously compared to Scott Walker, Tim Hardin, early Bowie and Donovan, Fagan was almost signed to the Beatles’ Apple Records, played on the same bill as a pre-fame Jimi Hendrix and was mentored by legendary songwriter Doc Pomus.
Most notably, though, he’s the father of Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt, which proves that maverick talent is genetic.
South Atlantic Blues was re-released last year, hence the belated flurry of activity!
