Coldplay to re-release albums on recycled plastic vinyl
The new EcoRecords are said to reduce carbon emissions during the manufacturing process by 85% compared with traditional vinyl production.
Coldplay have announced the reissue of nine of their previous albums on clear LPs made from recycled plastic bottles.
EcoRecords’ manufacturing process is said to reduce carbon emissions by a 85% when compared to traditional vinyl production.
The re-issued LPs, due out August 15, include nine albums such as, 2005’s X&Y 2008’s Viva La Vida, 2011’s Mylo Xyloto, 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams, 2021’s Music of the Spheres and more – their most recent album, 2023's Moon Music, was the first to be released in the EcoRecord format.
The albums’ re-issue mark a continuation in Coldplay’s long-running stance for sustainability. In 2021, the band had made their tour had been deemed one of the most carbon-neutral tours ever.
