The Colburn Orchestra, the flagship ensemble of the Colburn School’s Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, will perform at Dublin’s National Concert Hall on Wednesday, 22 August 22, direct from the Edinburgh Interntaional Festival where they will perform on the 20th August.
The Colburn Orchestra is the flagship ensemble of the Colburn School’s Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles and this is their first international tour. Stéphane Denève will lead the 100 strong orchestra and soloist Simone Porter at the National Concert Hall in a programme that includes Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Nyx, Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances and Barbers Violin Concerto.
Porter, an Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, has been recognized as an emerging artist of impassioned energy, musical integrity, and vibrant sound. The Los Angeles Times declared Porter “on the cusp of a major career.”
The Colburn Orchestra regularly performs throughout Southern California at venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Ambassador Auditorium, Royce Hall, Segerstrom Concert Hall, and the Valley Performing Arts Center.
