CMAT stands as the only Irish act to be nominated this time around, with Fontaines D.C and Lankum also getting the nod in recent years. Despite the regular appearance of artists from Ireland on the shortlist, there is yet to be an Irish winner of the Mercury Prize since its inception in 1992.
Last year saw British jazz quintet Ezra Collective take home the award for their critically acclaimed full-length Where I'm Meant to Be.
