Boy George's AI-generated pro-Israel song removed from Bandcamp
While Bandcamp hasn't made a statement on the removal of the song, the platform has a strict policy against generative AI music.
Boy George's AI-generated pro-Israel song titled 'We Will Dance Again' has been removed from Bandcamp.
The AI-generated reggae track was posted on X in defence of Israel's military actions in Gaza and rejects accusations of genocide, highlighting the October 7 attacks with lyrics such as "You say genocide, I say war."
After the track was released, the British musician was removed from his role as King Herod in the London Palladium production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He then fired the manager of his Boy George Presents label, Tony Pontius, after he refused to release the track. Over the weekend, it was uploaded to Bandcamp but has since been removed, with his account being deactivated.
Andrew Frelon - alleged spokesperson for the AI band Velvet Sundown - claims he reported Boy George's account to Bandcamp, which allegedly confirmed the track violated its terms of use.
In a video on Instagram captioned "What a bunch of c^^^s!", he urged those who have the song to share it online in response to its removal.

"The drama continues," he begins.
"Sadly, Bandcamp have removed my profile, so anyone trying to get a copy of 'We Will Dance Again' will have to wait until I record it and find a way to put it out.
"They've taken money, so hopefully Bandcamp will refund that money. It's very disappointing, and obviously, if you've got the track already, make videos, play it on the internet. Play it everywhere, get it heard."
The song has been condemned by Heaven 17 and The Human League co-founder Martyn Ware as an "Overtly pro-genocide, anti-Palestinian piece of musical propaganda." With actor Patrick Clanton, who appeared alongside George in the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! saying he was "embarrassed" to have worked with him.
