Bonnie Tyler out of coma but remains in intensive care
The 75-year old Welsh singer best known for her 1983 song 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' had emergency intestinal surgery in May.
Bonnie Tyler is out of a coma but remains "very unwell" in intensive care, a spokesperson has said.
She was rushed to hospital in Faro, Portugal, in May for emergency intestinal surgery, where she was placed under an induced coma to aid her recovery.
A statement on her official website said that her condition is improving and doctors remain confident she will recover. Her shows due to take place this summer have been cancelled, but it is hoped some later dates could go ahead.
"We are sorry to tell everyone that we will be cancelling, or postponing until next year, where possible, all of our remaining shows this summer," read the statement.
"This will affect every current show until the end of August. At present, we are still hopeful that our shows in the autumn will go ahead."
"We apologise to all of Bonnie's fans and to our promoter partners for the disappointment that this will cause, but trust that you will understand and bear with us in these difficult circumstances. We hope to see you next year instead."
Tyler, who was born Gaynor Hopkins, gained international fame in the 1980s with the release of her single 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', which spent two weeks as a UK No.1, and four weeks at the top of the US charts.
Her other hits include 'Holding Out For a Hero', 'It's a Heartache' and 'If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man).
