Alongside the Dublin gig change, BIIRD have also added a show at City of Derry Jazz Festival on May 4.
Formed in 2024, BIIRD is an 11-piece all-female trad music group. Led by All-Ireland harp and banjo champion Lisa Canny, the band were featured in Hot Press' Hot for 2025 list.
“People are more passionate about trad. One thing I’ve really recognised this year is the increased energy towards trad in teenagers," Canny commented on the popularity of trad music in an interview for Hot Press' Annual. "This has always been the case, but I feel like there’s been a massive increase in numbers recently."
"Trad is having a real moment of being cool and trendy," she added. "This year has been monumental – and I think the next few years are going to be very, very interesting.”
