beabadoobee announces sophomore album on Dirty Hit Records, <i>Beatopia</i>

beabadoobee is back with her second studio album, 'Beatopia,' which will be released through Dirty Hit Records.

London-based artist beabadoobee has announced her new record on the Dirty Hit label today, titled Beatopia.

The album will be the Filipino-British singer-songwriter's second studio album, after her wildly successful 2020 debut Fake It Flowers.

The 21-year-old musician has been teasing the follow up to Fake It Flowers for some time, releasing EP Our Extended Play in June 2021 to quench the fans' thirst. She's dropped two collaborative singles this year, 'Fall in Love With a Girl' with Cavetown, and 'Silver into Rain' alongside Luna Li.

The album will be released under independent label Dirty Hit, who represent fellow indie titans The 1975, Rina Sawayama and Wolf Alice. They have overseen all five EP releases since 2018.

beabadoobee broke into the mainstream after her single 'death bed (coffee for your head),' gained a huge online following, namely through TikTok. Since, her blend of '90s grunge pop and soft vocals has risen her into one of the frontrunners of the indie-pop genre.

The classic example of new-age, home grown bedroom artist, beabadoobee got her first guitar at 17 — learning how to play via YouTube tutorials. Drawing inspiration from Alex G, Florist, Kimya Dawson and the soundtrack to the 2007 film Juno, she began to write and record her own tracks. Her cover of Karen O's 'Moon Song' and original 2017 song 'Coffee' gained the attention of Dirty Hit, who signed her in 2018.

Her previous releases have been received to critical acclaim, garnering a Rising Star nomination at the 2020 Brit Awards, and winning the Radar Award in 2020 from NME. Now in 2022, she will be playing both weekends of Coachella, and a headlining North American tour with support from Mannequin Pussy.
