Balderdasch releases new single ‘Homoerotic’, announces EP Stillness Gyrating
Balderdasch’s new single centres around impactful performance.
London-based Irish artist Balderdasch has released the single ‘Homoerotic’, and has announced a new EP, Stillness Gyrating, out February 18 on Apollo.
‘Homoerotic’ is a follow-up to Balderdasch’s previous single, also titled ‘Stillness Gyrating’, and follows her performance earlier this month at Whelans’ 2026 Ones To Watch Festival in Dublin.
‘Homoerotic’ presents “a lot of intentional bravado - a ‘fake it till you make it’ attitude,” said Balderdasch. “It had to feel sexy, but with this desperation underneath. A character is being performed but the vulnerability seeps through, as the song in essence is about pushing through your own inhibitions in order to forge a new sense of self and sensuality.”
In creating the song, which was largely self-produced, with additional production and mixing by Pete Wareham and mastering by Jamie Hyland of M(h)aol, the impact of the performance was foremost in Balderdasch’s mind.
“I played the song live a few times in Germany before we went to mix it, and through the crowd’s response I realised I wanted to have the track both live and on record slap the back of your head with its intensity,” said Balderdasch. “We wanted the synths and the kick drum to be pushed as far as possible, and Pete Wareham spent a lot of time on the mix to ensure the bass was at a point where it would shake a club speaker.”
Balderdasch will headline The Victoria, Dalston, on February 21, with tickets on sale now, and support Ways of Seeing in her hometown of Cork on February 13.
