As Played By The Twilight Singers
This album is the much anticipated first solo album from The Afghan Whigs’ frontman Greg Dulli. For those familiar with the Whigs’ material, it should come as no surprise that Twilight is another high quality slice of exciting sounds from the Dulli camp.
This album is the much anticipated first solo album from The Afghan Whigs’ frontman Greg Dulli. For those familiar with the Whigs’ material, it should come as no surprise that Twilight is another high quality slice of exciting sounds from the Dulli camp.
It is a slow-tempo affair of sombre moods and heartfelt reflections, laced with Greg Dulli’s trademark grittiness and sleazy undertones. Dulli shares some of the singing credits with Harold Chichester and Shawn Smith and they have, together with co-producer Fila Brazillia created a soundscape full of textures and moods.
Dulli has worked a lot with harmonies and different instruments, which helps lift this album way above the average. Always an immensly talented writer, he has crafted some brilliant tracks, and songs like ‘Love’ and ‘Into The Street’ are beautiful tales that you will play again and again.
If you like The Afghan Whigs, you will love this. Whether Dulli is solo, or with his band, musical talent rarely comes in more attractive packages.
