Walt Disney and legendary producer Harvey Weinstein are to team up to bring 'Artemis Fowl' to the big screen.
The movie will be based on the first two installments of the Artemis Fowl series.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix scriptwriter Michael Goldenberg will write the screenplay.
After announcing that he wanted the rights to the film "within hours" of reading the story, Weinstein added a lovely little post-script saying "for me this is a special project because my children absolutely love this book."
The eponymous character in the novel, Artemis Fowl is a 12 year old criminal genius and multi-millionaire who captures a fairy, Capt. Holly Short of the LEPRecon unit, in order to gain ransom money from the fairy world.
