Arise Sir Ringo Starr! Beatles Icon To Receive Knighthood
After years and years of waiting, the drummer is to be finally knighted by the Queen in the new year.
The 77-year-old, whose real name is Richard Starkey, is being honoured for his serves to music and charity.
And its about time too, says Sir Paul McCartney, who was knighted himself all the way back in 1997 and has been pushing for his ex band mate to be knighted too.
He once said about the Queen: The last time I went by she was out. Otherwise, I would have popped in and said ‘Look, love, Sir Richard Starkey’. Because I do think it’s about time.”
Ringo received an MBE back in 1965.
