Another first: U2 take over the Conan O'Brien show
As if they didn't have enough achievements under their belt already, U2 are to be the first muscial guests to 'take over' the prestigious Late Show With Conan O'Brien in the US.
The band will be featured on the show on Thursday night, before beginning a seven-night run of sold-out shows at Madison Square Gardens, New York.
"We were able to offer them something to feel enough like an event for them to do the show," says Jim Pitt, the show's booker. "It's basically 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien - the U2 edition'."
Bono and co are expected to be interviewed by the TV megastar, and perform three songs of their discretion.
"When U2 decides they want to come on the show for an hour, you don't get too picky about what they play," Pitt says.
In the past, the show has seen The White Stripes play on consecutive nights, and gave The Strokes a Tuesday night residency for a month, but has never dedicated an entire show to one band before.
