Amy Winehouse camp deny gig cancellation rumours
The Amy Winehouse camp claim that media reports about her health are “overblown”, and that she has no plans to pull any of her live appearances, which include Oxegen in July.
Amy Winehouse is also due to play the Nelson Mandela 90th birthday gig this Friday, and Glastonbury on Saturday.
"She is not diagnosed with full-blown emphysema, but instead has early signs of what could lead to emphysema," clarifies a spokesperson.
Concerns about her well-being intensified this week when her dad, Mitch Winehouse, told journalists that his daughter’s lungs were “All gunked up. If she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her.”
He also added pointedly: “What hope does she have if people are taking drugs around her? I don’t want her hanging out with mates like Pete Doherty.”
The Nelson Mandela bash is taking place in London’s Hyde Park, with Queen, Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox, Simple Minds, Eddy Grant, Razorlight, Sugababes and the Soweto Gospel Choir.
Proceedings are being broadcast live on ITV from 9pm.
