Soft Cuddly Toys will be playing Whelan's, Dublin on 30 September with The Revs. Here's a little background on the hand-picked support...
The band formed around October of 2003 to play a tribute gig for their friend and brother Jon Fox who unfortunately passed away that September. After playing the Whelan’s show that December and having one of the most intimate and amazing onstage experiences of their lives they decided to continue to play together. Over the next year and a half the band worked on some songs, played some gigs and in general got to grips with playing together and finding a sound that complemented everyone’s role in the group.
Over the past two years the band has won the prestigious “An Tostal Drumshanbo song contest”, finished work on their debut E.P. 'Higher Ground', and just recently reached the grand final of the Whelan’s Brave New Stage competition standing out with their mixture of full band and acoustic arrangements in their sets. Now with the band having released their debut E.P. to a great response in Dublin, and having just played the hard working class heroes’ festival they are ready for big things.
And the band members are: Jon Ledden – guitars and vocals; Mary Kate Geraghty – vocals; Jamie Fox – piano; Paul Murtagh – lead guitar, Tom Ryan – bass.
