The Beat Poets will be playing the Spirit Store, Dundalk on 16 September with The Revs. Here's a little background on the hand-picked support...
Hailing from Co. Down, The Beat Poets were formed in April 2005. Already the band is gathering worldwide interest.
The Beat Poets started demo-ing material at the end of April, releasing 'Staring Stars Down' and 'Bloodline' as a radio only release. This led to The Beat Poets being chosen as Tom Dunne's Pet Sounds 'Rising Artists', on Today FM (National Station - Rep. of Ireland) for the last week of May. The Beat Poets are currently playlisted on 14 radio stations in Ireland. They have also received airplay in Canada and Australia.
XFM London chose the band to be part of XFM Unsigned during the first week of August, which they won on a public vote. This honour has led to fantastic exposure in the UK music scene.
August 2005 has also seen 'Staring Stars Down' and 'Bloodline' being licensed for use by Channel 4 on a new autumn sports show. The band was also chosen by Today FM's Pet Sounds as finalists for a competition to support The Chemical Brothers and Sonic Youth.
The Beat Poets were chosen as eventual winners, making their Marlay Park appearance The Beat Poets’ biggest gig to date.
With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Kings Of Leon and The Killers, The Beat Poets have derived a musical style that blends a fusion of modern Irish rock, with riffs, hooks and melodies that remind you that their musical ethos demands each song should have its own unique style.
Having started their summer schedule in the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, The Beat Poets are rapidly gaining the reputation of being one of the best live bands on the scene. The band is hoping that their explosive live shows will earn them many new fans.
