Watersport weekend Battle for the Bay returns this summer
Battle for the Bay, Dollymount Strand’s annual extreme water-sport weekend, is set to return this summer with the usual mix of sport, entertainment and competition.
Now in its twelfth year, the free two-day event is a weekend for all of the family, young and old, where audiences can witness some of the best kite surfers from the world. Battle for the Bay last year saw 65,000 visitors descend on Dollymount Strand.
This year’s weekend will feature race and freestyle competitions, with riders performing technical tricks. Powerkite and Stand Up Paddleboarding introductions will also be offered by qualified instructors.
Music-wise, Saturday will see Rachael McCormack, Leah Rose, Death Argument, TBL8 and Kiruu take to the main stage. On Sunday, it’s the turn of Camilla & Co., Jazz Jam, RUGS, Carron, Louisiana 6.
There will also be a beach market selling everything from vintage clothes to jewellery, a farmers market food village, a Kid’s Zone with fairground rides, and a Biodiversity Village where you can explore the wildlife of Dublin Bay.
The weekend returns on the weekend, 27 and 28 May, with free-entry between 10am and 6pm.
