Tipple of the Fortnight: YellowBelly
YellowBelly beer is our tipple of the fortnight.
Having been a well-kept southeastern secret, Wexford’s Simon Lambert & Sons pub, restaurant and – most importantly! – brewery is now coming in for much-deserved national attention.
Produced in 500 litre batches, their YellowBelly Lager, Rosehip Schwarzbier, Night Porter, It’s Red Jim and Cascadian Dark are all fab, but it’s their cayenne pepper and habanero chilli-infused porter that scores highest on the wow-ometer.
Before the heat kicks in – and it really does kick like a hyperactive mule! – there are big chocolate and roast barley flavours to ‘ooh!’ and ‘ah!’ over. Using the craftnation.com/about-us App you can scan the beautifully designed bottles to activate exclusive video content.
At 7.5% it’s a sipper rather than a guzzler, which can be found in Molloy’s and other fine offies nationwide.
