Tech Review: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for Xbox One
Strap yourself in for another trip to a galaxy far away. Fallen Order has the combat intricacies of the Dead Soul franchise, and the gung-ho adventures of Uncharted, yet it’s 100% Star Wars. Maybe that’s because most Star Wars games are all action and no drama. They forget that characters, family and friendship, are at the heart of George Lucas’s cinematic space odyssey. Not so in Fallen Order, which has heart as well as heroics.
You play Cal Kestis, a Jedi traversing the galaxy with his faithful droid BD-1. There are nefarious villains – including The Second Sister, an evil Jedi-hunter – and more stormtroopers than a Comic-Con convention, so it’s important to master the art of the ‘saber.
Taking on teams of combatants requires lightsaber strikes and special attack combos, blocking incoming blaster fire and enemy melees. Your grasp of the Force advances as the game progresses: freeze foes, push them away, or drag them into your blade.
BD-1 helps out in boss battles and navigates treacherous environments in environments that include Chewbacca’s homeland. The Force is strong in this one.
8/10
