There’s a speaker in the charging case of Apple’s latest earbuds. Be honest, you’re not going listen to Megadeth from this, let alone use it to alert you when its fully charged. Think of it more like an airplane’s black box. If you lose your AirPods case, look for it via Apple FindMy app and it’ll emit a shrill tone from the dog basket or the back of the couch.

Apple reckon their 2nd gen AirPods Pro (€299) has beefy, punchy audio, and comes with enhanced noise cancellation. Full cancellation blocks out the outside world, leaving you alone to your musical devices. Sometimes it is important to stay connected, especially when crossing the road or at boring family events, and Adaptive Transparency mode reduces and adjusts loud noises so you can tweak your aural environment.

AirPods Pro 2 tick along for six hours, if you’re listening to music, and keep a further 22 hours of juice in the case.
