Simon Cowell thanks fans for 'kind messages' following electric bike accident
Cowell had an operation on Saturday consisting of a number of procedures, including the insertion of a metal rod in his back.
Music mogul and talent show judge Simon Cowell has thanked fans and the medical staff who treated his partially broken back following a Los Angeles bike accident.
Cowell sent "a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors", calling them "some of the nicest people I have ever met".
The 60-year-old was taken to hospital after falling off his new electric bike in the courtyard of his Malibu home.
He later encouraged his followers to "read the manual" before riding an electric bike.
"Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time," he tweeted.
He then thanked fans and friends for their "kind messages", urging them all to "stay safe".

Cowell's spokeswoman said he had "broken his back in a number of places" and was "doing fine".
He had a previous fall in 2017, when he fell down the stairs at his London home.
The incident is not unlike that of Bono, after the U2 frontman crashed his bike in Central Park in 2014.
Bono broke his arm in six places and fractured his eye socket, hand and shoulder blade in what he called a "freak accident" in New York.
At the time, New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Centre’s Emergency Department said Bono had been involved in "a high-energy bicycle accident when he attempted to avoid another rider."
The injury forced the group to postpone a planned weeklong residency on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
