RTE Sports Producer charged with attempting to engage in sexual activity with underage girl
The senior producer, Kieran Creaven has been charged with two offences for attempting to engage in sexual activity with an underage girl in Leeds.
Creaven, who flew into Leeds, England from Dublin on Saturday (November 18th) was exposed in a Facebook live video by a group called Predator Exposure, who had been in contact with Creaven since July. This group, which is based in Yorkshire set up an online profile claiming to be owned by a 13-year-old girl with the intention of identifying sexual predators.
The 54-year-old was placed under citizens arrest by the group, while visiting Leeds, during which time, it is alleged that he intended to meet with who he believed was a minor.
Yorkshire police investigated the incident and he was later taken into custody. Then, on Sunday, he was charged with encouraging a girl between 13 and 16 years-of-age to engage in sexual activity
In the streamed footage, Creaven insisted that he did not have children and wanted to act as a father figure. He then denied all sexual intentions, however, members of Predator Exposure claimed to be in possession of a series of explicit images sent by one 'Jimmi Cee', which is the username Creaven is alleged to have used in these correspondences.
The Crown Prosecution Service have objected to bail. However, Creaven was remanded on bail to appear again before Leeds Crown Court on December 18th.
In a statement, RTE have said that they have "been made aware of this matter which is being dealt with by Yorkshire police forces in the UK and no further comment will be made at this time."
