Pellador announce Michael D. Higgins inspired football jersey in collaboration with Claddagh Records
Having recently visited Napoli, the Pellador team drew inspiration from the city and how it celebrates its iconic football legend Maradona.
Irish knitwear and sportswear brand Pellador has announced the latest edition to their clothing line – a football jersey inspired by President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins – in collaboration with Claddagh Records.
Inspired by our Poet President's spoken-word album, Against All Certainty, Pellador has created a jersey honouring his life's work, his contribution to arts, sports and culture and his lifetime achievements.
Having recently visited Napoli, the Pellador team drew inspiration from the city and how it celebrates its iconic football legend Maradona.
Understanding our president's lifelong football enthusiasm, Michael D. Higgins served as president of Galway United FC; the Galway jersey colours were used as a base for the design.
The jersey is split into three panels, the first two depicting Michael as a politician with the third representing him and his family. In between the images are lines of poetry from Michael D. Higgins' spoken word album, “Against All Certainty”.
The crest is a custom Uachtarán na hÉireann crest, tailored for the jersey, while the gold detailed throughout the jersey represents the presidential gold.
Against All Certainty, the spoken-word album by President Michael D. Higgins, was released on September 5, 2025. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Official Irish Album Chart, becoming the biggest physical-selling artist in the charts that week and the biggest Week 1 (volume) of any spoken-word album in the Irish Charts (on record).
General on-sale for the jersey is this Friday, October 10, on Pellador.com
