My Ireland - Jo Spain - Best of Ireland
What’s your favourite thing about Ireland?
The people, without a doubt. We’re the best in the world.
Your favourite Irish town?
Dublin. Born and bred and miss it if I cross county lines.
Best view in Ireland?
Looking up at the Spinc over the lake at Glendalough. It’s like God’s thumb pressed down on Earth and chose his favourite place.
Your favourite restaurant?
SOLE seafood and grill, and the way the oysters might look at you.
Sole, Dublin. Copyright Miguel Ruiz.Best bar in Ireland?
What’s the next question – choose your favourite child? Currently have The Waterloo, Baggot Street as my local and love it.
Best weekend retreat?
Powerscourt Hotel, a little paradise in the middle of paradise.
What’s your favourite shop?
Dubray on Grafton Street. It’s my book-buying home.
What’s your favourite place to swim?
Powerscourt spa…

Favourite Irish building?
That’s a toughie. I went to Trinity and still love showing it off.
What do you recommend to tourists?
Befriend a local. Then you’ll see the real Ireland.
