Mark McCabe and more to perform at Limerick hurlers' homecoming
The event celebrates the Limerick Senior Team bringing home the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
Musicians including DJ Mark McCabe will be performing in Pery Square, Co. Limerick today to celebrate the Limerick team's victory in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.
Following their victory in the hurling final against Galway in Croke Park on Sunday, Limerick GAA and Limerick County Council are welcoming back the senior team as they bring home the Liam McCarthy Cup.
Thousands of supporters are expected at Pery Square where there will be music from DJ Mark McCabe, Gearoid McCarthy & Band and more.
Irish DJ legend Mark McCabe is best known for his 2000 release of 'Maniac 2000' which went to number one as the biggest-selling record in Ireland. He performed at Electric Picnic last summer as well as a tour for the 25th anniversary of the hit record. On April 2, he played a show in the 3Olympia titled Maniac and Other Bangers.

Today's event is set to be a double celebration, with the Limerick minor hurlers having won their first All-Ireland in 42 years last month.
"The support this team receives from the people of Limerick is extraordinary and there is no doubt it played a significant role throughout the championship," a representative from the Limerick GAA said. "We saw that support in Croke Park and we saw it again at the Big Screen event in Pery Square."
The Pery Square Homecoming event is from 5pm-9pm today. Tickets are free of charge and entry is by eTicket only, which are available on Eventbrite.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, said he was looking forward to honouring the team.
"What this group of players, management and backroom team has achieved is truly remarkable. Once again, they have demonstrated extraordinary commitment, resilience and belief on the biggest stage in the game and the people of Limerick could not be prouder. With Minor success also this year, the future is looking very bright for Limerick hurling."
