Lisa Hannigan Confirmed for Gig in Support of Michael D. Higgins
Born Optimistic are presenting a show of solidarity and support for re-electing Michael D. Higgins as the President of Ireland. Now Lisa Hannigan has been added to the impressive line-up...
Lisa Hannigan will be the special guest at the gig in support of Michael D. Higgins' Presidential campaign, which will take place next Monday, 15 October 2018 at 8.00pm in Whelan's.
Originally the co-vocalist in Damien Rice's band, Hannigan went solo in 2007. Since then she has released three acclaimed albums, Sea Sew (2008), Passenger (2011) and her latest At Swim (2016). She has received multiple awards nominations for her music in both Ireland and the USA. She is widely – and rightly – regarded as one of the finest female singers and performers this country has even produced. In addition to her extraordinary skills as a songwriter and performer, she has a lovely presence, which will add hugely to any occasion.
Lisa was a prominent supporter of the Repeal the 8th campaign, and has an acute sense of the importance of political action. Her work has featured in numerous soundtracks and films, including Neil Jordan's Ondine, the Brad Pitt vehicle Fury, and the Fargo TV series. She has also voiced characters in the Irish animation hit Song of the Sea and the TV series Steven Universe.
Lisa joins an impressive lineup for the gig, including comedian Alison Spittle, Steve and Joe Wall (The Stunning), Jerry Fish, Cathy Davey, Old Hannah, Loah and Felispeaks. Other surprise guests may yet be added to what is already a hugely impressive line-up.
Tickets priced from €15 are available from https://bornoptimistic.com/
