GREAT IRISH THINGS TO EAT: Hong Kong Taste stun with their buns
And their Cantonese-style egg tarts!
Lockdown living has been made eminently more bearable by the opening at 21 Eden Quay, Dublin 1 of Hong Kong Taste, a traditional bakery and bubble tea establishment within char siu* bun throwing distance of Liberty Hall.
Open from daily from noon to 7pm, all their wares are baked or, er, bubbled instore and also include Cantonese-style egg tarts, cheesy chicken curry buns, sausage buns, scallion buns, red bean buns and, well, buns of every type!
They’re wonderfully fresh, fragrant and a snip at €1.50 for the little fellas and €3.50 for the ginormobuns, which are a light lunch in themselves.
The Hong Kong Taste crew are lovely and smiley (currently with their eyes only) and willing to guide you through the menu and regular specials.
It’s cash only, which is dangerous because you’ll want to scoff the lot.
