Dublin footballers' homecoming celebration taking place in Smithfield this evening
The family-friendly event will feature live entertainment before the team takes to the stage.
Dublin GAA fans of all ages are invited to a family-friendly celebration of Dublin's win against Kerry in the All-Ireland Senior Footballers final – being held in Smithfield Square at 6:30pm this evening, July 31.
Hosted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste and Dublin City Council – and featuring Marty Morrissey on MC duties – the event is a celebration for the team, the backroom staff, Dublin County board and fans alike. The event is alcohol-free, and Dublin City Council has encouraged those attending to use public transport when traveling to and from the event.
“Winning an All-Ireland title is always amazing, but beating Kerry in the final? It doesn’t come much better than that," the Lord Mayor commented. "I can’t wait to see everyone in Smithfield tomorrow evening. Let’s have a party and celebrate the boys in blue!”
The highly anticipated final, which took place on Sunday at Dublin's Croke Park, pitted heavyweights Dublin and Kerry against one another. A tense one, Dublin landed the winning punch late in the game and secured a two-point win, Dublin's first final win since 2020. To get into the spirit of things, the iconic Irish rockers The Stunning also played a 30-minute set before the start of the game.
Celebrations are happening all around Dublin, as fans celebrate the Dubs' win. Both Beckett Bridge and the Smithfield Sails will light up in blue for the boys tonight.
