The Blindboy Podcast returns to Vicar Street in 2019
Following an assortment of incredible sold-out Vicar St dates this year, we are delighted to announce the Blindboy Podcast will return to Vicar St in March 2019.
Blindboy's increased notability away from his band Rubberbandits, has allowed for him to explore wider avenues and create perhaps outrageously mind-altering brainchildren which can only be described as courageous, yet bonkers.
With a number one selling book under his belt, he has spent 2018 becoming Ireland's foremost podcaster, single-handedly change people's mind set on mental health and the deafening stigma it surrounds. At the same time, he's also being dishing out poignant, fiendishly listenable 'hot takes' on everything from the origins of disco to an Indonesian volcano's impact on the gothic period; from witnessing a public masturbator with one half of Boyzone to the peculiar nature of the colour blue.
Outspoken, informed and empathetic, Blindboy engages his audience with equal touches of realism and surrealism. There is a very authentic feeling of "freedom" Mr Boatclub exhumes which allows his listeners and participants to openly speak their mind without judgement and with no topic off limits.
Some of his previous live podcasts have been genuinely groundbreaking in terms of long-form interviewing in Ireland. In particular, conversations with the likes of Irish economist David McWilliams, civil rights activist and former MP Bernadette Devlin McAliskey, and author Louise O'Neill have been eye-opening, informative and, at times, devastating.
Meanwhile, his series of podcasts on 'Introduction to Cognitive Psychology' have emboldened a large swath of people to genuinely examine their own mental health and not be afraid to speak on it.
As a sensitive interviewer, a genuinely curious historian and art historian, and an agent for social change in Ireland, Blindboy speaks to, and for, thousands of people on this island and beyond. Whoever is guest is on the night of the live podcast, it's sure to be a spectacular occasion.
Blindboy will perform at Vicar Street on March 4.
Tickets priced €28 are on sale now through www.ticketmaster.ie & usual outlets nationwide.
